ShortCut is a unique and extremely powerful automation tool for all Windows and DOS applications.
ShortCut is based on visual interactive desktop technology which allows you to control any Windows or DOS based applications. ShortCut is activated by hot-keys, schedule timers, or a mouse click. Need to customize a lookup in your application? Maybe you need to link information to your accounting system and another application? Perhaps you would like to command your backup system on a scheduled timer? Do you want your system to be more automated? ShortCut is the solution to all of the issues mentioned and much, much more. Since ShortCut is extremely flexible, the possibilities are endless. You write the script and let ShortCut do the rest. Included with ShortCuts full 30-day evaluation are: Internet web form solutions, a function library to manipulate databases with samples, import utilities, custom fax interfaces, and more.
ShortCut also contains many sample routines. ShortCut scripts are very easy to create from scratch to fit your immediate automation needs and there are no limit to the number of scripts.
Types of sample Script Routines:
- Send information from applications to Microsoft Notepad, Word and Excel automatically. (Sample scripts are included)
- Send information directly to QuickBooks Invoicing from other applications. Instantly, it will leave the user at the QuickBooks item line prompt. The QuickBooks customer information will be pulled directly from the other application. This script can be applied to most DOS and Windows type accounting systems, not just QuickBooks.
- Send out a fax without having to type in the destination information. ShortCut will automatically pull the fax information for you. Our example uses WinFax, but can be used with any Windows based fax system.
- When the fax information window appears, ShortCut will automatically fill in the fax information and/or wait for a hot-key to pull information from another application.
- Obtain information from your Internet Web forms and place that information directly into your database. You decide how and what types of information to update and quickly modify our template to fit your form needs. ShortCut allows the user to pass and update any information. This process can be setup for many different Internet configurations.
- Synchronize & transfer information between any Windows or DOS programs.

Folders
Folders are listed on the left pan of the main window (see above figure). You can use folders to keep your scripts organized. Shortcut creates a folder called Scripts as a default folder. Normally, you can just add all your scripts there. However, as number of scripts grows, you may want to create new folders and place all related scripts together in one folder. To add a new folder, simply select File > New Folder... Once a new folder is created, you can move the script from one folder to the other by dragging the script where you want to move it.
Scripts
Scripts are listed on the right pan of the main window. To add a new script, select Tasks > Add.. You can also right-click on the right pan and select the appropriate script tasks.
Script Editor

Script Editor
Script Editor provides you with a convenient way to edit a script for your task automation. Script file is simply a text file that has .fbs as an extension. The basic functionality of this editor is the same as with the notepad. However, we have added features that will help you to create your script quickly and easily. With the syntax highlighting feature the scripts are easier to read, resulting in less coding error. If you are editing a script and you would like more detail about a particular command, highlight that command and press F1. This will bring up the "Help" for that command. Before you can start writing your own script, you need to become familiar with the script syntax. (Please refer to Script Commands for more information)
Schedule
Schedule
Schedule provides you with a way to automate the unattended task. Any task can be scheduled to execute at any date and time. In addition, you can set it to run once or at different intervals. A unique schedule can be set per ShortCut script.
Interval
Select "Only Once" if you want to run this script just once. Otherwise, select "Every" and then choose the appropriate interval.
Start At
Specify appropriate Date/Time you want Shortcut to start this scheduling task.
