Using Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to upload files directly to SharePoint

As a user, I want to upload my documents automatically to SharePoint with a standardized file name, folder location, and column values. In the video example above I will use a twain scanner to demonstrate a user uploading a tax form using FabSoft’s Desktop Automation Driver.  Using Robotic Process Automation (RPA), this print driver intelligently classified and extracted important document information.  The Desktop Automation Driver placed the extracted data in the defined columns and posted the document to SharePoint as a PDF image.

Today, it is typically a five-step process for a user to submit documents to SharePoint from a file.  First, the user has to navigate to the SharePoint folder, find the file, drag the document into the SharePoint, and then manually enter the document information.  This process takes too many steps and if there is a typo or the user alters their naming convention, the document may be lost forever.

Microsoft SharePoint has many different ways to receive documents automatically.  All the Microsoft Office products have direct connectors that will allow users to easily place documents in SharePoint.  However, for a repetitive document where the information changes and the format stays the same, it still leaves the user to manually enter the important reference data after submission.  With the Desktop Automation Driver a user can train the document in less than 5-minutes so that documents is placed automatically in the SharePoint folder with all the important information on the document used for filling in the column names.
